How do I apply for a new Connection?

Apply through a letter addressed to:
Chief Engineer
India Power Corporation Limited
Central Office, Sanctoria,
Dishergarh, Burdwan – 713333
or
Plot No. X1-2 & 3, Block – EP, Sector V, Salt Lake City – 700 091.

The letter should contain the following:

  • Name of the organization / person in whose name the connection will be taken.
  • Location of the organization, where the connection will be taken.
  • The requirement of load.
  • On receipt of the letter a form will be issued from Chief Engineer’s Office. Fill up the form and deposit it in the address mentioned above.

How long does it take to get a new Connection?

  • On receipt of application form duly filled in,
  • 15 days for survey of the site and preparation of estimates
  • For connectivity with a target timeframe much lower as specified in regulation depending on the clearance ROW.

How much do I have to pay for a New Connection?

  • Depends on the location of the site and quantum of power required.
  • We also offer techno-commercial solutions on case to case basis to the new consumers.

What are the options available to me in respect to Consumer Category?

  • Depending on the load requirement and usage the consumers are categorized and have different tariffs and enjoy different facilities.
  • Class A – For Industrial or Commercial consumers having a demand of 100 kVA and above and taking power in HT, the category has a two-part tariff and the consumer is supplied with an HT switch gear.
  • Class B – Consumers having load less than 100 kVA come under this category and they have a single part tariff.
  • Class C – Agricultural consumer.

How often do I get the electricity bill, is it monthly?

Yes it is monthly, by the first week of every month you should get your final bills. These bills are generated using the meter readings taken by the engineers between 24th to 26th of each month. You have to pay the bill within the due date, which is 21 days from the bill date. If you fail to pay within that time Late Payment Surcharge will be levied.

How do I pay my Electricity Bill?

Payment of the bill may be made in cash or by cheque or by demand draft drawn in favour of India Power Limited. Payment should be made either to the Company’s Corporate Office at Plot No.X1- 2 & 3 Block EP, Sector-V, Salt Lake Kolkata-700 091 or at Central Office, Sanctoria, Dishergarh, Burdwan – 713333. Detail timing may be seen in the reverse of the bill.

Within half an hour on receiving the complaint.

How is quality of power being monitored?

  • Round the clock vigilance & control centre.
  • A very efficient team of engineer and support staffs.
  • Automated service to be introduced soon for monitoring of voltage fluctuation, frequency and other parameter.

How do I challenge an Electricity Bill or the performance of the meter?

If a consumer wishes to dispute to an energy bill then he has the option of paying the current bill on protest and then, through the dispute management cell, the procedures of resolving disputes can be followed. Our past record says our dispute management team doesn’t take too much time to resolve these. In case of challenging the performance of the meter a specific form is available and a certain fee to be deposited to the testing of the meter and metering equipment in presence of the customer by our centralized testing department.
